Sharon has over 37 years of experience in the field of social work. She has a strong passion for children and families resulting in a 33-year career in child welfare. This passion brought Sharon to Tumaini for the first time in January 2018 and has since returned on a number of occasions.

Sharon was born and raised outside of Montreal and has lived-in South-western Ontario for close to 40 years. Her educational background includes a Master of Social Work from McMaster University. Retiring from child welfare has not slowed Sharon down as she currently continues to work in the field of social work on a casual basis by delivering training  to professionals and caregivers;  providing program support and acting  as a field advisor liaison for the Bachelor of Social Work program at Wilfrid Laurier University. Sharon is married to Rick  and has 2 sons and 2 grandchildren and in her spare time loves to do stained glass and garden.

Sharon has been deeply impacted by the experiences she has had during her visits to Tumaini. As a social worker who has worked with vulnerable children and families, she has discovered an extraordinary program which provides not only exceptional care to children and youth, but also much needed supports in the local community. Sharon is so pleased to be a part of such a wonderful organization and contributes by providing support to the children and staff of Tumaini; assists in the Tumaini donation barn and participates in ongoing fundraising efforts.
